4 ~ His overwhelming emotions

Abhiraj pov

The moment the crown was placed on my head, cheers erupted from the commoners who were present in the court room. My gaze traveled from the royal entrance of the court room. Where roses make a trail to the throne for the king. I saw the courtiers's smiling faces who dreamed of a happy kingdom prospering under my rule.

This did not feel real - not in the good way. I closed my eyes and opened them again hoping this all would disappear when I open eyes. But they did not, instead the realisation dawned upon me. I was the king now. All the things and deals which concern the kingdom should concern me too.

But on the brighter side - My brother and sister would not have any burden upon themselves of the kingdom. Matashree and Pitashree would be relaxed, thinking the kingdom is in good hands.

I looked up from my feet when I was needed to fulfill the formalities of totally becoming the karta-dharta of the empire. I rose from the throne and walked towards the announcement area, each step reminding me of the people who are dependent upon me now. As I stood on the platform, I saw my subjects with their smiling faces, waiting for me to take my vow and officially be their king. I never understood why they wanted me to be their king, I did nothing special.

But if this is what they want, I am ready.

"I, Abhiraj. Take this vow to be justful and unbiased in the matters of the rights of commoners. I will consider this this kingdom and it's people my family and be there for it when it needs me. Every single life living in this land would be served justfully and taken care of. I promise to make this land an even better place to live in."

I could not find more words for my vow. Hoping they would understand the emotions that play on my face, I turned to the minister.

The minister asked the public for the permission of me becoming the king. "The people of Mehrangarh. On this auspicious day the previous king of this land, wishes to pass his throne on to the crowned prince and his foster son. The previous crowned price, Vardaan, also wishes to hand over his right to him. But do you all accept him as a king?"

I looked at the innocent mothers, sisters, ladies nodding their head and saying "Yes."

The minister asked the crowd for the second time - "Do you all accept the crowned prince to become your king?"

I looked at the small figures of the children shouting "Yes."

For the formality, the minister asked for the third and the last time - "Do you all accept the crowned prince to become your king?"

This time I looked at the decision makers of the house, the men. The elder of the people, the old. The maintainer of the house, the women. The future of the land, the kids. And saw them all nodding their heads and voicing their thoughts out, all in the chaos of the word "Yes."

At this moment, I was overwhelmed with the love the people here give without even me being the royal blood. I could not stop myself from saying - "I was a lost soul who wandered in the darkness, and the royal family gave me the light of having a family. You all gave me the respect which I probably do not even deserve. I promise to you that whatever happens, I will keep you all higher than my selfish thoughts. Thank you so much for your unconditional love."

I went back to throne room after this. Then all the people proceeded with me in the room attached to the throne room where the things which are to be donated are kept. With the maids and helpers in row, bringing the things to the platform I was in earlier, I walked back and touched the things which were donated.

After an hour of donation, the royals went back, with me included. I came back to my room and sent the maids who were in the room, back. And then laid on the bed, thinking back to the events of today.
